Two years seems way too long for the idea to crystalise. However, when I look back, I really can’t point out any shortcuts.
Certain things just take time.
Adapting the idea to real-world needs and learning to articulate it in a compelling way, seemed like a never-ending journey (though very enjoyable). The process is still ongoing and will never end, but there is a stage, when the idea is mature enough and ready to be shown to a wider audience.
Progress has been made, and the first positive feedback is starting to come in.
I am very happy to share that in October 2024 the RespireLabs project was nominated as a finalist for Tiroler Innovationspreis – a contest organised by Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce (WKO Tirol) together with the State of Tyrol. The award is granted in the categories of ‘Technical Innovation,’ ‘Service Innovation,’ and ‘Concept with Potential’. I applied for the last category. Having no expectation about any outcome, made this news even sweeter.
Being a finalist brings already benefits. There will be some media exposure and professional product/company video will be created for each of the finalists. Very excited about that, I usually was the one making videos for others, this time will be something new to me:).
It took me whole summer to write a robust business plan. Again too long probably, but it was definitely worth it. Application for the contest went very smooth thanks to the business plan, which is now a reference point to basically everything. I highly recommend writing a detailed BP it saves time in the end.
